The Best Herbal Remedies For IBS You’ll Ever Find

The constant flipflop between constipation and diarrhea often associated with IBS makes planning anything difficult. However, between these herbs and your doctor, things can be done to calm the problem and ease the pain.

Peppermint Oil: Fifteen studies have been done on peppermint oil in relationship to irritable bowel disease. Patients who used the oil were statistically better off by a wide margin. While you can drink a tea, the capsules of oil are probably the better bet. It needs to get through the stomach in order to be useful in the intestines. The enteric coating helps assure that happens.

Chamomile: The soothing qualities of these flowers is well known to those who are anxious or suffer from mild insomnia. However, it is just as soothing to the intestines. Chamomile can help stop the painful spasms in they body, which can reduce the impact of IBS on your life. It may also make you sleepy, so be careful driving or operating machinery after taking it. I find a tea the best method for this plant, but you may need the convenience of tablets or capsules.

Acidophilus: While this isn’t an herb, it does seem to offer help to those suffering from IBS. Bad bacteria can cause flare ups, so adding more good bacteria is often helpful. You can get it in liquid form as well as in yogurt. You’ll want the live kind, so read the labels carefully.

Wormwood: While some websites encourage the use of wormwood, I do not. There are two reasons. One, the wrong dosage can have really bad side effects. The other is that it contains a chemical that can cause brain damage. Unfortunately, it doesn’t wear off, it accumulates. That means the more you take it, the more of your brain will be damaged, and it causes irreversible insanity.

Sage: I’ve used sage the most for IBS, in part because I know it works on me. It has a drying effect, so if you are suffering from a constipation episode, don’t take it. However, for diarrhea, it can be quite useful.

Endurance Exercise – Improve Cardiovascular Health

Cardiovascular related diseases account for more deaths than any other Canada, The United States and most European countries. It is defined as a disease that affects the circulatory system, including the heart, blood vessels, veins and arteries throughout the body and brain. The most common diseases are coronary heart disease (which includes heart attacks, and angina – or chest pain), stroke (blockage of blood supply to the brain), heart failure and high blood pressure (which is also a risk factor toward other diseases).

Physical inactivity is a major risk factor in developing a cardiovascular disease. Other risk factors include smoking, alcohol, obesity, high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, and diabetes. Therefore, reducing the risk of developing a disease is greatly increased by leading a healthy lifestyle that includes proper diet and exercise. Exercise, in particular, has many benefits, including reducing the risk for a heart attack by 35 – 55 % (Heart and Stoke Foundation of Canada). In order to maintain proper circulatory function, the cardiovascular system must be trained. Exercise, especially endurance exercise, increases endurance which in turn improves the overall efficiency and strength of the circulatory system. Endurance exercise is achieved by performing low to medium intensity activities (for example walking, jogging, swimming, or working out at a health-club) for long periods of time.

By engaging in regular endurance exercise the heart becomes stronger and is therefore able to pump more blood throughout the body with each beat. This means that the heart of a trained circulatory system does not have to pump as many times per minute (heart rate) or work as hard as that of an untrained system. Oxygen is therefore more efficiently distributed to the working muscle groups of a fit individual than an unfit individual during exercise. Furthermore, endurance exercise reduces resting heart rate (heart rate when not exercising) and the amount of time it takes for an individual to return to resting heart rate after physical exertion. Improving circulatory efficiency allows for the overall health of an individual to be maintained with less strain and difficulty.

Therefore the answer to the statement “Endurance Exercise: how it can help cardiovascular health” is summed up by the following: Regular endurance exercise is essential to the maintenance and longevity of an individual’s overall health. The more an individual engages in endurance exercise, the more he/she increases his/her endurance (efficiency and strength) which ultimately improves his/her overall health. This, combined with a healthy diet will lead you on your way to life-long health and well being. For those unsure about exercising, consult your health care professional or visit your local health club.

Unbalanced Force Factor Fitness Training Method For Men – Burn Fat, Gain Muscle

How To Attain Fitness Euphoria

The 5 Steps

Have you ever wondered why some people LOVE to exercise while others have no motivation to even get started? Have you ever wondered HOW they got that love and how you never found it? Let’s start by getting rid of one of the myths of the “workout” world. I read over and over again, “If they made a pill to get us healthy and lose excess weight, then we’d all be happy.” Not so. Think about that statement. Sure, you might get healthy and be able to lose weight. But that “euphoric” feeling of achievement and accomplishment released by the body’s own endorphins… Can only come from your own fitness efforts. THAT’S what it is all about. So…you want to know how to attain your very own state of personal euphoria? There are FIVE things in life that can help you to lose fat, change your body, better your health…AND improve the world and those around you.

Find the belief in yourself.

Develop “self efficacy”. That is, the belief in your own self promises. The knowledge that once you make a commitment, you will follow it through to completion. Many times when we ask ourselves a question–especially when it comes to our health and wellness, we REALLY do already know the answer! It’s the belief in YOU that determines whether or not we accept the right answer. Think about all that you have learned from where you have been and what you have experienced. Embrace all the RIGHT lessons previously logged into your memory bank…ready and available for immediate recall. Believe in where you are going and how you intend get there. You KNOW the answers. No one can learn or teach you better than yourself. Are you ready to receive your own best advice? The Unbalanced Force Factor Training System was developed and based with this principle in mind. The principle of… SELF-EFFICACY.

Baby Steps

Bite-sized chunks. Manageable increments. Measurable milestones. Achievable Workload. “Do” able tasks. Realistic expectations. In order to achieve anything in this life, we must first define our short-term goals. We must be able to determine the difference in short, medium, and long-term expectations when setting realistic goals. Life is an ultra marathon. But the first thing we must achieve…is taking that very first step. In order to get to that first step, there must be a mind-altering decision. The decision that you are ready to do what it takes. Plan your daily meals. Make efficient use of your daily plan. Prioritize the things that consume your time. List them according to what tasks will make the biggest impact at the end of the day. And the most important thing to plan on for the day… Make time for YOU. Now, I don’t mean treat yourself to excess indulgences. I mean give yourself permission to take the time for your personal health. Take this all-important matter into your own hands. Develop the discernment to know the difference in high priority things. Your workout should be at the top of this list! The Unbalanced Force Factor training system will enable you to reach personal fitness euphoria once you make it your priority!

Understand Nutrition

It’s true that nutrition is a science. But that doesn’t mean rocket science. If it’s as simple as just following the guidelines as outlined in The Unbalanced Force Factor, or if you actually follow the advice of a registered dietician or medical physician… We have to fuel the body correctly. Use these very simple guidelines: Think about your health. Avoid dwelling on tastes or “enjoyment”. You can refine your taste palate to enjoy the right foods once you learn and accept the difference that they can make for your health. Think about your looks. Avoid getting caught up in the gluttony of buffets, fast foods, convenience and refined sugar products. Learn to enjoy… Lean meats Fresh fruits Fresh vegetables Whole grains Many wonderful nutritive spices If you want to make a change and you can only have one choice… Change the way you eat. The Unbalanced Force Factor can then work to take you to that euphoric level once you have the foundation of proper nutrition.

Focus and Visualization

Mental preparation is prerequisite to making changes. Once you can SEE the future, you can achieve it. See the trees BEFORE you see the forest. We must get the proper sleep. We must be able to rest when needed. We must be able to relax. Think about how you feel after a peaceful vacation from the normal pace and everyday responsibilities. Implement these practices on a daily basis. You simply do them in a shorter time frame. Take mini vacations with mental breaks to visualize what you desire. See it coming to you. When you are rested, and your health starts to improve it is very attractive to the people around you. In fact, it’s MAGNETIC. And if those around you feel good, you feed yourself with all your own positive energy generated. See your health. See your future. Get the proper rest, relaxation, and sleep you require. THEN… Have fun training with the Unbalanced Force Factor.

Act On Your Plan

It has been said that: “If you fail to plan… You plan to fail.” Push yourself to achieve goals and stick to plans. Break out of your old patterns. Teach yourself to accomplish the plan. Read something successful everyday. Listen to positive things daily. Avoid fear of new schooling, new ideas and concepts. Learn as much as you can in every situation. Lay the groundwork Work the plan.

Implement and attain all 5 steps to Fitness Euphoria. Embrace The Unbalanced Force Factor training and lifestyle method.

Seaweed Is a Source of Phytonutrients That Could Potentially Be a Cancer-Killer

Fucoidan is something of a newcomer on the health and wellness scene. Until recently, little was known about the substance, commonly found in various species of edible brown seaweed, like kombu and wakame. Now, thanks to recent research by Japanese scientists, we know that Fucoidan seaweed is a potential cancer-killer. Early scientific studies of Fucoidan have shown that it may have some utility in fighting cancer, since it has the ability to stop the growth of certain kinds of lymphoma cells.

Fucoidan is only one of many vital phytonutrients found in seaweed, which is widely considered to be one of the healthiest vegetable substances known to man. Fucoidan is a sulfated polysaccharide that occurs naturally not only in superstar seaweeds like kombu and wakame, available at every sushi restaurant in the world, but also in lesser-known varieties, like limu moui, Bladderwrack, mozuku, and hijiki. According to Wikipedia, Fucoidan has also been found in certain other kinds of sea life, like sea cucumbers.

A 2005 study by Asia, Miyakawa, et. al. determined that Fucoidan can actually kill certain kinds of lymphoma cells. Though the health effects of Fucoidan require far more study before anything can be said definitively about the substance’s cancer-fighting ability, this is an encouraging early result. Anyone interested in proactively countering the carcinogenic effects of our polluted environment would do well to consider adding brown seaweed to their diet.

Every year, researchers discover more and more problems with the so-called “healthy” compounds added to our foods, medicines and supplements. Take, for example, the case of the compound triclosan, which has for years been added to soaps and toothpastes as an antispectic. Recent studies of triclosan by the FDA have shown that the chemical might, in addition to killing harmful bacteria, disrupt hormone levels animals, meaning it might do the same in humans. This is a substance that medical science had previously concluded was perfectly safe, even beneficial to the human body.

Because most supplements are produced artificially, by large pharmaceutical conglomerates with no vested interest in the well-being of clients, they tend to be composed primarily of inert powders, and sometimes tap water. At best, these supplements contain an adequate amount of a few, select nutrients. Seaweed on the other hand, leverages the natural health benefits of seaweed to bring its users a plethora of healthy compounds, including Fucoidan. Seaweed has existed for millions of years; pharmaceutical companies have existed for a few hundred. Who do you trust?

Why should you choose seaweed health supplements over a conventional, over-the-counter multivitamin? More often than not, commercial multivitamins are composed mainly of artificial additives, with at best a trace of actual nutritional content. A seaweed blend composed of only pure vegetables from the sea, poses none of the problems associated with health products that rely on artificial additives for their effectiveness. Seaweeds culled from clean ocean waters around the world, contain nothing but healthy phytonutrients, like Fucoidan, evolved in nature and one-hundred-percent safe for human and animal consumption. A blend of twelve different seaweeds, is an easy way for you to get a daily dose of all those nutrients without having to alter your diet significantly.

The human body is too complex to tamper with, even in seemingly insignificant ways. Scientists can’t know the consequences that might result from the introduction of certain artificial chemicals into the human digestive tract, making all-natural health supplements the safest, most sensible option for today’s responsible, health-conscious consumer. Capsules of seaweed blends contain hundreds of different nutrients, each of which is present in the precise amount and form to which the body accustomed. When you take a seaweed blend you are effectively fortifying your body with a defensive line of beneficial chemicals, not to be found in processed foods-and certainly not to be found in most over-the-counter vitamins and supplements.

Aromatherapy Massage – Its Importance and Health Benefits

Aromatherapy is the science that uses the healing powers of essential oils. Aromatic essential oils are distilled from organic plant sources. These plants produce many natural phyto chemicals. Thus, essential oils have diverse therapeutic effects on the mind, body and spirit.

Massage and Aromatherapy go hand in hand. In ancient Egypt, aromatic baths were a daily ritual. This was followed by a massage using aromatic oils made from cinnamon, rose, cedar wood, lilies, myrrh and so on. The last Egyptian queen Cleopatra was famous for exotic massages, aromatic baths and perfumes. She lavishly used perfumes to seduce both Julius Caesar and Mark Anthony. In those days, aromatherapy massage was meant for relaxation, pleasant bodily scents, skin conditioning and overall healing. They did not have a clear distinction between perfumery and healing. We now know that an aromatic essential oil massage heals through the sense of touch and smell.

Importance of Aromatherapy Massage

The true significance of an aromatherapy massage is to completely harmonize the mind and the body. Pure and natural essential oils both heal and beautify the body, emotions, and the psyche for a truly powerful and unique sensory experience. An aromatherapy massage is effective due to the ability of the essential oil to penetrate the skin layers and tissues. This permits the oil to enter into the blood quickly and spread the therapeutic benefit throughout the body. The quality of the essential oil will directly affect the extent to which the positive health effects the oil can be derived.

Aromatherapy massage has been accepted today to play a role in relaxation, rehabilitation, and preventive health care in western medicine as well. These massages are offered as part of the health package in spas, beauty clinics resorts and wellness centers.

Essential oils need to be selected and used with care and caution before delivering an aromatherapy massage. Essential oils can either sedate or stimulate the recipient. Most oils are antibacterial and many anti-spasmodic. There are many aromatherapy products available in the market today which contain synthetic substances. These do not give any therapeutic health benefits and can in fact cause adverse reactions.

Health Benefits for Specific Ailments with Aromatherapy Massage

  • PMS (premenstrual syndrome)
  • Menopausal symptoms
  • Digestive problems,
  • Stress
  • Hypertension,
  • Insomnia,
  • Muscle and joint stiffness
  • Lethargy and low energy levels

These are some health conditions that respond very well to massage with essential oils.

5 Paleo Diet Tips

Even when it seems that the information is overwhelming for what’s healthy and what’s not, it is possible to choose a healthy lifestyle that includes modern and manageable choices to accommodate any lifestyle. The Paleo Diet will allow you to eat healthy, enjoy your meals, and assist you in achieving real health and wellness!

The Paleo Diet does not include grains, dairy, sugars, or processed foods – none of which provide nutritional value and support disease-causing inflammation in the body. The Paleo Diet supports eating a healthy mix of organic safe meat, fresh vegetables, some fruit, some nuts and seeds… and of course, healthy fats and oils! “Food is our fuel” that makes the body run – what you put into your bod will become the building blocks for every cell, muscle, tissue, and organ. The old adage “you are what you eat” was surprisingly true.

Here are 5 easy tips to help you get started on your Paleo journey to a healthy lifestyle:

1) Pre-cook your food, even bring lunch to work. In order to minimize cooking time, cook large batches of food at the beginning of the week or several days in advance!

2) Keep a paleo-friendly meal replacement bar or shake in your desk or purse in case of a change of plans. Being un-prepared will lead to poor decision making.

3) Try a new vegetable – the more color, and the deeper the color, the more nutritious it is! For example, kale is one of my favorite superfoods and it’s very versatile – you can use it in recipes for smoothies, salads, and even cooking as a warm dinner side.

4) Don’t keep any food you don’t “want” to eat in the house… at all. Out of sight, out of mind. And no, your kids don’t need those chips and cookies either.

5) Learn how to use new spices. This will offer much more variety and flavors in your meals.

And speaking of planning, here’s a little inspiration for planning your healthy paleo-friendly snacks!

– Apple with almond butter

– Cinnamon Nuts (nuts dusted with cinnamon and baked at 250 degrees about 10-15 minutes)

– Hard boiled eggs

– “Guacamole” salad (equal amounts of cubed avocado and tomato, sprinkle with chopped red onion and cilantro)

– Fresh vegetable juice / smoothie

– Kale chips (coat kale in olive oil and cook at 250 degrees for approx. 20 mins.or until crisp)

Using Herbs Can Help You Lose Weight During Menopause

Herbs for weight loss are a common subject of discussion among women who are going through menopause. Weight gain is a real issue for many menopausal women. Changes in hormone levels can decrease energy, increase appetite, and contribute to water retention, all of which can lead to excess weight, particularly centered around the mid-section.

There are many different potential methods for addressing this weight gain, among them herbs for menopause. Which herbs are most effective is a matter of some debate, but there are a few that are generally believed to counter the symptoms of menopause and could be a positive factor in losing weight. As with any treatment plan, you should always consult with your doctor before taking herbs or herbal supplements.

Among the herbs for weight loss most often mentioned are dandelion, chasteberry, black currant and black cohosh. All of these herbs have been used for years to ease a variety of symptoms related to menopause and each can also be beneficial when it comes to losing weight. They should be taken in moderation and you should pay heed to the potential side effects they may cause.

Dandelion is a well-known and documented diuretic. Women in Europe have used it for generations to treat urinary tract infections. It is also among the many herbs for menopause weight loss because it helps to control water weight gain without flushing important nutrients from the system at the same time. Some people have experienced allergic reactions to dandelion, so some caution should be applied.

Since hormone imbalance is such a central part of menopause, the chasteberry is one of the most important herbs for weight loss as it directly affects hormone production. Chasteberry stimulates the production of progesterone, which can help to balance out the lack of estrogen during menopause. By balancing hormone levels, you can improve appetite and increase energy, all of which may make it easier to stick to a weight loss regimen.

As one of many herbs for menopause treatment, black currant is effective on two separate counts. Not only can it help regulate water weight gain, it also contains Omega 6 and Omega 3 fatty acids, which are central to hormone production. By ensuring that you are getting the proper amount of these vital nutrients, you can help to ease side effects of hormone imbalance that lead to weight gain.

Black cohosh has been one of the more controversial herbs for weight loss, but it is proven to combat some of the symptoms of menopause that lead to weight gain. Things like depression, mood swings and fatigue may be alleviated by taking black cohosh, and easing these symptoms can lead to increased energy and a lessened tendency to overeat.

Of course, herbs to do not provide a cure-all for any problem, including losing weight. The best method for losing weight at any stage of your life remains eating a balanced diet and exercising. But during menopause, when it can be difficult for women to deal with the effects of hormonal changes, having a little natural boost may be just what the doctor ordered.

Eat Curry Once a Week to Fight Dementia – It Really Works!

According to new research revealed at the Royal College of Psychiatrists Annual Meeting in Liverpool, curcumin, the component of the spice turmeric, can help prevent dementia and Alzheimer’s disease . . . even if eaten only once a week.

Curcumin is the yellow pigment that gives Turmeric the color. Turmeric is often used in foods such as curry and is considered to be one of the most beneficial spices when it comes to mental health.

According to the research, curcumin prevents the spread of amyloid protein plaque, the plaque that builds up in the brain and is implicated in dementia and Alzheimer’s. It also prevents the tangle of nerve fibers that also contribute to the disease.

Alzheimer ‘s disease is a form of dementia that is marked as it continues to progress, attacking the brain and robbing the individual of their memory as well as cognitive abilities. The plaque builds up on the brain of patients with this disease to the point where they can no longer remember relatives and lose their sense of reason. Alzheimer’s is a fatal illness, although someone can live with the condition for years.

In Eastern culture, turmeric was used as a form of medicine and now research supports the notion that it is very powerful when it comes to brain health. The new evidence indicates that while even a weekly meal of containing turmeric (such as curry) may be beneficial to the brain, those who eat such a meal two to three times a week have even lower incidents of dementia.

There are additional tests underway regarding the effects of this spice when it comes to preventing dementia and Alzheimer ‘s disease. According to research, Curcumin may be as effective at stopping the protein fragments as the drugs that are currently on the market to treat Alzheimer’s patients.

There is no cure for Alzheimer’s. The drugs that are on the market to treat this condition only slow the progression of the disease – not cure it. They are not without side effects, either. In fact, those who suffer from this condition will often forgo the drugs as the side effects can be very unpleasant and instead opt for cognitive therapy to try to prolong their lives.

The new study on curcumin shows promise because it is a natural product that is a powerful antioxidant and has anti-inflammatory properties – both vital in the fight against Alzheimer’s. Hopefully further research will shed even more light on curcumin’s powerful health benefits.

Natural Diabetes Cure – Onion For Diabetes Treatment

A natural diabetes cure that is beneficial is known as onion for diabetes treatment. Onion is well known for its effectiveness against a variety of conditions that include the common cold, diabetes, heart disease, osteoporosis, and other diseases.

Onion contains chemical compounds that are believed to have anti-cholesterol, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties like quercetin. The onion shows a single vertical shoot above the ground, while the bulb grows underground; it is a close relative of garlic.

A natural diabetes cure has found that onion has a significant blood sugar lowering action and the main active ingredient is known as allyl propyl disulphide (APDS) as well as diallyl disulphide oxide (allicin).

APDS has the ability to lower blood sugar levels and increase insulin. Other benefits of onion are its cardiovascular effects, have the ability to lower lipid levels, are antihypertensive, and can inhibit platelet aggregation. Onions are essential for diabetes treatment.

How onions lower blood sugar is not exactly known, however research has shown that the properties of onion can block the breakdown of insulin in the liver that prevents the destruction of insulin. Therefore, this means that the body will have higher levels of insulin, which is essential for people with diabetes.

Onion for diabetes treatment has been used since ancient times; it makes no difference whether the onion is eaten raw or cooked. Onions (Allium cepa) belong to the lily family, which is the same family as garlic, chives, leeks, and shallots.

Onion is a natural diabetes cure that contains a number of sulphides that are similar to those that are found in garlic, these are known to lower blood lipids and blood pressure.

Following is a recipe for a natural diabetes cure that contains onion:

Why You Can’t Lose Weight – How To Break The Habits That Hold You Back

Do you wonder why you can get so enthusiastic about weight loss one day, and then completely abandon your goal the next? Are you painfully aware of what your horrible eating habits are doing to your health, yet find it impossible to go one day without diet sabotage?

There is a very real tug-of-war that goes on within each and every one of us. The war rages between your conscious and subconscious mind. Your conscious mind knows all the reasons you MUST change. Your subconscious mind has gotten used to the way things are and resists change.

You can continue to try forcing change, but don’t expect a new outcome. The better way is to create change. Let’s take a look at how it is done.

Why habits are hard to change:

Habits are a mechanism your brain has created to save brain power. Habits run on autopilot freeing up your brain to deal with other issues.

Consider learning how to drive.

When you first got behind the wheel of a car at the age of 16, you noticed everything about that car. It took a long time to adjust the seat, adjust the mirror, and figure out where the turn signal was. And, your mind was ever vigilant as your eyes constantly moved from the speedometer to the road.

If you had to keep this level of consciousness every time you got behind the wheel of a car, driving would be a maddening and all-consuming activity.

Instead, your brain started putting driving tasks together, and driving became a subconscious activity. How many times have you driven from “Point A” to “Point B” and remembered little about the drive?

Like driving, your eating has become a subconscious habit. So if you try to force yourself to change by turning your life upside down and going cold turkey on all of your old eating habits, your body and mind will feel very uncomfortable… too uncomfortable and you will quit.

How to break old habits and create new ones:

To break the habits of the old you, you need to create change by working with your body and mind at the same time.

To change your body, you need a strategic approach to changing the foods you are eating. Instead of trying to change everything about your diet overnight, ease into change over a 7 day period by methodically replacing junk foods with healthy foods. By doing this you give your body time to adapt, and you avoid overwhelm.

To change your mind, you need to focus on why life will be better when you are eating a healthy diet. What will it be like walking into your church or social function at a spry 125 pounds? How would it feel to try on new clothes at your ideal weight?

Focusing on what is wrong with the current you will keep you locked in your old destructive habits. Focusing on the new you naturally pulls you to new and healthy habits.
